We are aligning our data collection, emissions calculation and independent review processes with the requirements of the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), helping our European business partners access the information they need for their reporting obligations.
The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism is a European Union policy designed to address carbon leakage by placing a carbon price on the embedded emissions of certain goods imported into the EU.
Following a transitional reporting period between 2023 and 2025, CBAM entered its definitive regime on 1 January 2026. The mechanism initially covers selected goods in carbon-intensive sectors, including iron and steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, electricity and hydrogen.
Under the definitive regime, authorised CBAM declarants are required to report the embedded emissions associated with imported goods and surrender the corresponding number of CBAM certificates. Reliable emissions information from non-EU producers therefore plays an important role in supporting accurate CBAM declarations.
CBAM aims to ensure that certain imported goods and products manufactured within the European Union are subject to comparable carbon costs.
The mechanism applies to selected goods in the iron and steel, aluminium, cement, fertiliser, electricity and hydrogen sectors.
EU importers require accurate embedded-emissions information from their supply chain to fulfil their CBAM reporting obligations.
As a non-EU manufacturer, our role is to monitor and calculate relevant emissions associated with our production activities and provide our business partners with clear and traceable information.
Vergo Energy manufactures steel components and mounting structures for solar energy projects and exports products to the European market. Depending on their customs classification, certain iron and steel products may fall within the scope of CBAM.
We are developing the necessary processes to support consistent data collection, emissions calculation and documentation across the relevant stages of production. This approach is intended to help our European customers fulfil their own CBAM reporting responsibilities with reliable information from their supply chain.
Vergo Energy calculates relevant direct and indirect emissions associated with its manufacturing activities in accordance with the applicable CBAM methodology. Our approach includes the collection and assessment of data related to:
Production activities at the relevant manufacturing facilities
Energy and electricity consumption
Raw materials and relevant precursor materials
Product quantities and production processes
Embedded emissions associated with the relevant products
Supporting documents and calculation records
By maintaining structured and traceable records, we aim to ensure that the emissions information provided to our business partners is transparent, consistent and supported by appropriate evidence.
Our calculation and documentation processes will continue to be reviewed and updated in line with changes to the applicable CBAM legislation and technical guidance.

Vergo Energy has been working with Bureau Veritas; the independent review and pre-verification process was completed in August 2026. The process covered our emissions calculations, supporting records and relevant data collection practices.
